Otranto, why discover the eternal city

Since years Puglia is a destination craved by everyone. Located in the south east of Italy, It’s a place full of surprise, with magic little towns where you can always find something new. Local food, ancient churches, night life, good wine. You won’t loose anything of this if you’ll go through it from Salento to the Valle d’Itria, From Bari to Lecce.

A coast long more than 762 km, with perfect coves that preserve and shield timeless cities on the sea living everyday between wind and sun. Here we can find Otranto, known as pearl of Salento thanks to its beauty and history, so close to Lecce.

An eternal city, with ancient beauty, ups and downs, with history that you can find walk after walk and with amazing views. “Why visit Otranto?”, you would ask. We’ve already mentioned lots of reasons but not enough. If you love the cities with white walls, ancient castels, drinking galss of wine staring at the sea, Otranto is the right place.

  1. The city with double face
    Past and present cross each other in the city. Once arrived here, let yourselfe be guided by the witheness of the downtown wall, discovering churces,sanctuaries, little museums and the medieval Aragonese Castel, built more than one thousand years ago, venue of a lot of exhibitions of modern and contemporary art.
    Moreover Otranto also has a new face, the one with the arbor and the promenade. Here you will find a great number of little shops, bars and restaurant.

  2. Trekking between earth and sea
    Otranto will offer toy you such a lot of wonderfull views and walks. From Punta Palascia (the most eastern point of Italy) Until torre Sant’ Emiliano, the sea runs with earth giving you very strong emotions talking about stories of defence and enemy assoults. The Palascia lighthouse, during the whole year is lighted up and It is venue of exhibitions, parties and exclusive activities about sea and stars. You won’t miss the Bauxite Cave where the blue water is mixed with the red earth and the shiny green of nature. A very evocative place, one of the most visited.

  3. Enchanting place with authentic taste
    Like everywhere in Puglia, you can easily find touching point with the food culture. Otranto hosts a large number of typical restaurants, farm, farmhouse, bar in its little streets, in the green of nature and by the sea. Just let yourself be inspired by the moment and this will be an authentic taste trip.

These are just few reasons to persuade you to see Otranto and to find out Its beauty. Probably you’ll need more days to stay and get in touch with this city quiet during winter time but that become pne of the more wanted and populated cities during summer.
